InTheCloset presents “Spectacular Slippiness” by Sofia Albina Novikoff Unger!
“Spectacular Slippiness” is a two-part video hologram work with an extended soundscape that uses a 3D avatar based on the artist’s self portrait to slip a personal network-theory ontology through the cracks. A log line reads as follows: The connection between the rave, the love story, the analogue, the hypertechy, the cross-hatcing of nature and artifice folding in on each other, creating new hybrids, new myths created by new finds, new plutocracy, globalisation, falling apart, new hope, butch powers in new constellations.
Sofia Albina Novikoff Unger (b.1990) is a Danish Russian artist based between London and Copenhagen. She holds an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths University (London). Her practice uses a plethora of mediums spanning video, installation, textiles, 3d-printing and sound to converge unexpected connections between biological and cultural phenomena. Recent shows and screenings include: ‘Faith is a Cascade’ (solo), Seager Gallery, London (2021); ’Get Out of my Star chart’, Museum Nikola Tesla, Zagreb (2020); ‘CPH:DOX Film Festival’, Copenhagen (2020); ‘Chasing Unborn Shadows’, Gossamer Fog, London (2020); ’Traverse Vidéo’, Le Abattoirs Museum, Toulouse (2020); ‘A Slow Longing Collapse’ (solo), Broadway Gallery, Letchworth Garden City, (2019); ‘Befriending Hyperobjects’, Navel, Los Angeles (2019); 'Abracadabra’, 6th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, Moscow (2018).
